Portrait of Nick’s Cat Rusty
Nick came to me with a super fun and unique idea — a portrait of her cat, Rusty, but with a twist… she wanted him reimagined as a steel-faced cowboy. It was such a rad concept and honestly suited Rusty’s bold little personality perfectly. I was immediately on board.
To kick off the design process, Nick sent me a bunch of her favourite photos of Rusty so I could choose one that would work best for the pose and vibe I had in mind. Out of the bunch, one photo stood out — it had just the right expression, and I knew it would translate perfectly into the cowboy character we wanted to create.

From there, I got to work sketching Rusty in full western glory — complete with the perfect cowboy hat and a bandana to match. I had so much fun designing this one. Pet portraits are always special, but I love when we get to put a creative spin on them and inject a little humour and personality.

Once the design was ready, I sent it through to Nick, and she gave it an enthusiastic yes! With her approval, we locked in the session and got ready to bring Cowboy Rusty to life.
Here’s the final result — Rusty the Coolest Cowboy Cat around, now forever inked as the furry outlaw he was always meant to be. 🤠🐾
